Castle Douglas

This market town located 6 miles from Bengali Holiday Cottage.  The Food Town offers food shoppers the best of local produce.  There are over 50 independantly run businesses in the town. Threave Gardens and Threave Castle are located on the outskirts of the town.

Kirkcudbright

The town of Kirkcudbright sits only 5 miles from Ringford.  Located on the Solway Coast and the banks of the River Dee, Kircudbright is a great destination for artists.

Travel 8 miles west of the cottage and you will find Gatehouse of Fleet.  A picturesque town close to beaches at Cardoness, Carrick and Mossyard.
